"Went to listen to the Charles Burton Band at the Mission Bay Deli this afternoon -- all I can say is WOW-WOW-WOW, and anyone who missed it, you really missed a kick-ass show -- I cannot imagine they'll have a better show there this season! Chill Boy showed up and played too and did some classic cool stuff with Charles. Charles sounds better every time I hear him, and this gig was so tremendously upbeat and right on that I cannot possibly say enough good things about it. Steve Wells was awesome on bass -- I don't know how he manages to keep up with Charles, but he does an amazing job. Don't know the drummer's name[David Coats], but he was excellent too, and Charles just continuously lays down the guitar solos and amazing vocals that are serious heavy-duty blues but at the same time have a light-hearted touch with comical inserts that make it even cooler. He is just like one big moving, vibrating, musical instrument himself, and that band really swings! He did some Stevie Ray tunes that were absolutely tremendous, and the audience simply could not get enough. The sun was out, the dance floor was packed, the beer was cold, the burgers were hot, and those of us who were just listening were cheering and wiggling and pounding our hands and grinning ear to ear because the sound was so amazing. I had such an amazing four hours there -- I was SO glad I went -- if you get a chance to go and hear the Charles Burton Band, you won't be disappointed!" --Donna MacKersie on Sunday, June 26, 2011
